While many players are happy to just collect their favorite cards, a master set collector is on a different quest. But what exactly does it mean to “complete the set” when there are multiple reverse holo patterns?

What is an Ascended Heroes Master Set?

Ascended Heroes introduces a new layer of complexity. A “Master Set” means collecting one of every single printed card variant.

The “Double Reverse” Rule:

  • Pokémon Cards: Every Common, Uncommon, and Rare Pokémon has two reverse holo versions: an “Energy Holo” and a “Special Reverse Holo.”
  • Trainer Cards: The 38 Trainers in the set only have one standard Reverse Holo.

How Big of a Binder Do I Need

Because the Ascended Heroes set is so massive, the binder you need depends entirely on how “complete” you want your collection to be. Here are the recommendations based on your collecting style:

The True Master Set Goal

All Standard + Energy Holos + Special Reverse Holos

Total Cards: 613

Recommendation: Do not try to squeeze this into one binder. We recommend splitting the set into Two 9-Pocket Binders (Volume 1 & Volume 2). Capacity: 720 total slots (360 x 2).

Benefit: Leaves ample room for future expansion and protects cards from bending in an over-stuffed binder.

The Standard Collector Goal

Collect cards 001/295 to 295/295 (No Reverse Holos)

Total Cards: 295

Recommendation: A standard 9-Pocket Binder (360 slots) is perfect. It leaves you with about 65 spare slots for promos or duplicates.

The Classic Master Set Goal

Standard Set + 1 Reverse Variant (Energy Holos & Trainer Revs)

Total Cards: 473

Recommendation: You need a large 12-Pocket Binder (480 slots).

Warning: This is a very tight fit (only 7 spare slots). If you plan to add promos, you might run out of room.

Top Chase Cards in Ascended Heroes

A storytelling masterpiece. The artwork features the entire evolution line – Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite – flying alongside the Mega Evolved form. A nostalgic hit for Gen 1 collectors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many cards are in the Ascended Heroes Master Set?

There are 613 cards total. This massive count includes the 295 standard cards plus 318 reverse holo variants (accounting for both Energy Holos and Special Reverse Holos).

What is the Ascended Heroes Master Set checklist?

It is the complete list of every variant required to finish the set. You can use the free interactive checklist on Binder Forge to automatically track Standard cards, Energy Holos, and Special Reverse Holos separately.

Are reverse holos required to complete the Ascended Heroes Master Set?

Yes, and this set is unique. For every Pokémon card, you must collect two reverse variants: the “Energy Holo” and the “Special Reverse Holo.” Trainer cards, however, only have one standard reverse holo version.

How do I build an Ascended Heroes Master Set binder?

Because the set requires 613 slots, you cannot fit it into a single binder. We recommend using two standard 9-pocket binders (Volume 1 & Volume 2) requiring roughly 69 double-sided pages total.

Where can I see a full Ascended Heroes Master Set list?

Binder Forge provides a sortable, filterable list of every card in the set, including the secret rare Mega Hyper Rares and the distinct “Pink Rainbow” variants.

Can I manage my Ascended Heroes Master Set binder online?

Yes! Binder Forge allows you to visualize your “Volume 1 & 2” binder layout digitally, track the real-time value of your chase cards, and share your progress with other collectors.
